I am having some problems running Wordstar 5.x on an associates machine and I was hoping someone here on the net would be able to clear up the problem or possible problem. The machine is an original IBM PC running a 20 meg hard drive and system memory upgraded to 640k. The Dictionary and Thesaurus are installed. What seems to be happening is that random characters are appearing for no apparent reason in the middle of the document when a person is working on the document. It's very strange and such things as control characters and other formatting codes begin to automatically put themselves into the document. In some cases it's so bad that parts of the document can no longer be accessed. Could this be a memory problem or hardware problem? It would seem to me that there is a possiblility of the ram running out but I'm not sure. The program is suppose to run in 640k of memory. But then again, I don't know what kind of memory addition this machine has or who the manufacturer is of the added memory. Original IBM PC's didn't come with 640k and I wasn't aware they could be upgraded to that much system memory. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? The old Wordstar 2000 program seems to work fine so it's definately a problem with the upgrade to 5.x. Please email replies as I will not have time to read this group for a while. -- Bob _______________________ Pro-Graphics BBS 201/469-0049 ________________________ InterNet: bobl@pro-graphics.cts.com | ProLine: bobl@pro-graphics UUCP: ..crash!pro-graphics!bobl | CServe: 70347,2344 ARPA/DDN: ..crash!pro-graphics!bobl@nosc.mil | Amer.
