Suppose I have a PC running MS-DOS, networked with a Macintosh, or a Unix box, and that one or more file systems on the Mac or Unix system are visible on the PC. How are file system differences resolved? For instance, what will a random DOS application do when faced with a filename of "Personal.Letter 1/1/90", for instance, or two files, named "frobnicate1.c" and "frobnicate2.c"? I'm just curious, I don't know how things work, or how they should work. I would be interested in hearing how real life products handle this (including but, hopefully, not limited to pretending the problem doesn't exist.) Thanx. -- Brian L. Matthews blm@6sceng.UUCP
