Type "tar xvf <tar file>" or "tar xf <tar file>".

The "v" means verbose mode, meaning that it tells you what it's doing
as it un-tars your file.

I am posting this message for a friend of mine, please reply
to me for him...

I am interested in buying a 40 meg mfm hard drive and am considering the
seagate 251-1. I have no information on the reliability of this drive
or any other comparable drive except through a couple of friends'
experiences. If anybody has seen a rating from some publication
of hard drive failure rates or can speak from personal experience,
please reply. ---Greg
