I would like to start a thread about PC software publishing. I have some
intitial areas that are of interest:
1. How have you got your programs published, and what type of liscening
agreeement did you sign? Did you give away exclusive marketing rights?
What type of royalty arrangment did you set?
2. Do you publish your program yourself? How did you find distribution
channels? How successful are they? How can someone get their software
into a distributors catalog?
3. How successful is shareware for you? Do people actually register their
copies? How have you promoted your shareware program?
I have some experience in each of these areas and would like to know how others
have fared. I have made money selling software, but nothing to break the
bank. To be fair, none of my programs have had a huge market base - they
are mostly interesting, new and low price ways for individuals to extend the
use of their PCs.
I am currently working on two projects that I believe have serious potential.
They are both coming to an end and I'd like to hear from people on the net
about their experiences.
