I have a portable computer with two expansion slots in it, I need three.
Has anyone had experience with adding additional slots to a machine.
My machine is a 4.77 mhz XT clone (luggable; laptop if you weigh 400+
pounds). Can I (perish the thought) just solder some shielded ribbon
cable to the bottom of an existing slot and add another edge card
connector to the end? I have two cards that can be mounted outside of the
machine, a hard disk controller and a memory expansion card. If the above
addition would work, which would be best to be mounted outside, the hard disk
controller? The length of the cable would not exceed 16". Any info or help
would be appreciated.
