I have heard indirectly that this movie did not get good reviews; I can't see why! What a fun time we had watching. I can think of some attributes of the viewer that might help him enjoy it more: (1) being married, and knowing what it is to deal with in-laws, (2) familiarity with the LA lifestyle, and (3) familiarity with wintertime in Buffalo. I can answer 'yes' to all 3, so maybe that's why I liked it. I must add, however, that the entire audience was laughing unconrollably in many parts! Reynolds was ideal for his role, and I was relieved to see all the vestiges of the blond air-head image gone from Hawn's character. The movie seriously explores several aspects of married life rather well. Possible best scene: The playpen scene Little trivia quiz: Where have you seen the guy's mother before? Jim Heliotis

Last night, I went to see "Best Friends" with Burt Reynolds and Goldie Hawn. Not a typical "laugh-a-minute" film which I expected from the previews, but a sort of comedy-drama at best. It was entertaining but I was glad I only paid $1.75 to see it. It isn't worth $4 or the 3 1/2 star rating that it got in the papers. I would recommend waiting for it to come on Cinemax or Showtime, which it will probably do in about 6 months.

I just couldn't resist this. K. S. Romanowski started his/her comment on "Best Friends" by saying: "Last night, I went to see 'Best Friends' with Burt Reynolds and Goldie Hawn." Why didn't you just have them act it out for you in your own home for free instead of paying to see the movie with them? On a holiday, Mike Laman P.S. I know ... put it in net.jokes.
