[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Big fonts on CGA?

mark@intek01.UUCP (Mark McWiggins) (01/24/90)

I need to display big text on a CGA (laptop, and that's all you get).
I have to do a custom application with this, so I'd need a program
library (preferably with source).

Any leads to such a thing would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds to me like the only way you're going to be able to do this is
via large fonts that come with various paint programs, like PC Paintbrush,
etc. There may be hardware boards available that will require a regular
8 bit expansion slot. If you had EGA, that would be easy, as I have
personally used software that will display 12 EGA lines (big letters) on
an EGA. If you do have hardware slots available, you could add in an EGA
board, and use such software (EGA12.COM, available from PC Magnet/PC
Magazine on Compuserve and elsewhere) also. Hope this helps.

I missed the original discussion, so forgive me if this misses the
mark by a wide margin, but...

I have a series of assembler routines (homegrown) that will display
big characters on a CGA screen. These routines are callable from any
MS language. (C, PASCAL, ForTRan, MASM (of course) ). If you
are interested, contact me below...
