" in response to 512 wonder card malfunctioning in 16 bit slot. In august, I purchased a standard 256k wonder card with the 16 bit slot. I have an AT machine and it refused to work right in 16 bit slots in my machine as well. The manual mentions that it might not work in all 16bit machines. About 3 mos later, installed in an 8 bit slot, the card went completely haywire and refused to select the correct scan rate for my VGA monitor (it would come up in scribbles, b/w, or occasionally color vga if I was lucky). I now have an Orchid 512 prodesigner and it too refuses to let the computer operate when installed in a 16bit slot. I do not have a solution, but you are not alone with this problem.
