About a month ago, I posted that I had a spare 1/2H drive bay, and a spare cable leading from (what I thought was) an MFM controller, and asked the question, "What is the biggest drive I can put in there?" A month of research yield the following, hopefully useful information: Several up to 71M Imprimis CDC Wren III 92M/18ms -- the largest specifically put in the MFM category. However, I checked my drive. It is a Conner CP344 (a 3.5 inch drive sitting on a 5.25 inch tray) and this drive is usually listed under AT/IDE controllers, so adding that category gives: Imprimis Wren VI 230M/15ms and Connor CP-3104: 100M/25ms Connor CP-3204: 200M/19ms I don't really know the technical difference between MFM and AT/IDE, although given a few seconds, I could recite what the acronyms stand for. Now, I am also under the impression that ESDI drives use the same interupt as MFM and IDE controllers,, so that installing an ESDI controller means sacrificing existing drives. I am also under the impression that SCSI is not subject to the same conflict. So, if one adds SCSI drives for consideration, the set from Micropolis looks intriguing: Micropolis MC1654/74 160Mb Micropolis MC1558/68-15 320Mb Micropolis MC1568-15D 660Mb Of course, these are not 1/2 height. If I got anything wrong I'd appreciate being corrected. Also correction of ommissions and experiences would be welcome. -- Craig Werner (future MD/PhD, 4.5 years down, 2.5 to go) werner@aecom.YU.EDU -- Albert Einstein College of Medicine (1935-14E Eastchester Rd., Bronx NY 10461, 212-931-2517) "Trust me.
