Recently I upgraded a Micronic 386 20 Mhz system to include 1 meg.
of expanded memory. The system was purchased before EMS40 was announced
(I think?). When I installed the memory and set it up in CMOS for
Extended memory. Everything looked good.
The problem I am having is when I run WP5.1 with expanded memory
the system automatically does a cold boot. The device driver I am using
for Expanded memory is Pc magazines EMS40.sys. Is the device drivers
for expanded memory the same for a 286 as a 386? Is the Bios rev. to
old to support ems40.
(Its a Phoenix Bios rev. 3.04 (I might be mistaken on revision).
I know it is not a hardware problem because if I set it up as a
vertual disk it works fine.
I was going to get 386Max and see if this might clear problem up.
I finally got a hold of Micronics support and they told me to update
the bios and see if that helps but I felt that was his standard answer
and when I tried to order one through them. I was disconnected and unable
to get through again and they never returned any of my calls.
