I have tried using a Logitech mouse in an AST 386 SX with disappointing results. The mouse pointer jumps across the screen as I move the mouse. It behaves as though the SX is very slow or the Logitech controller is reporting positions very slowly. The mouse controller is set for a 60hz report rate (double and triple checked!), and the SX is operating at 16mhz. Also, I have double and triple checked that there are no interrupt conflicts with any other boards in the system. The real frustrating part of all of this is that I have tried the same controller, mouse, and software on an 8mhz 286 AT system and the everything works very responsively. I have also tried the same thing with a Microsoft mouse with similar results, although not quite as bad. The some hardware and software was used on a 20mhz 386 with, not surprisingly, quick responsiveness. Lastly, the software being used is Aldus Pagemaker. Does anyone have any ideas about what the problem is? I'm stuck and can't think of what to do next. The vendors have not been able to offer anything helpful. Jerry Keys UC Irvine
