[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Wanted - IBM AT Hard Drive

douglas@ddsw1.MCS.COM (Douglas Mason) (02/06/90)

I am a college student in search for some extra storage space.

I have a True-Blue IBM AT currently with a 32 MEeg RLL Hard Drive. In the
process of keeping everything I have ever typed as well as records and whatnot,
along with several compilers, I am running low on space, but desire to keep
everything on-line.

If someone has a HD system that will work on my AT with an RLL controller
(or if it has a controller of it's own) and is willing to sell it to me
at a reasonable cost, please send me some mail.

I am of limited means, but I would like to try and get SOMETHING for my
system!

Thanks for your time.

This posting is in response to the "poor college student" who needs a bigger hard drive
to store all of his doccuments.

I am a poor college student myself and only have a 20 mb HD. I use file compression
utilities [pkarc and pkzip] to archive the data, programs and files that I don't need
to have online and thus save the cost of an extra or larger drive. Hi density floppies
are also useful for storing current doccuments abd just keeping the program files on HD.

If you really wish to buy another drive, I reccomend CompuAdd. This is not an ad, I have
had very good experience with them in the past and find their prices competitive.

: Speaking of hard drives, why does IBM still use an 85ms access time drive in their PS/2 :
: model 30 and 30/286 ? How archaic can they get? PS/2 = one half personal system :
