[comp.sys.ibm.pc] copying 5.25 boot disk to 3.5

eli@spdcc.COM (Steve Elias) (02/15/90)

does anyone know how to copy a 5.25 boot disk to 3.5???
i'm going crazy with this Zenith 386 machine! it must have the 3.5
drive as primary, unless i get a special cable.

"dd" can copy 5.25 to 3.5 media, but how to deal with the boot track?
is there a special blocksize necessary???

You can easily copy 360K 5.25 disks onto 3.5 inch diskettes using
Copy II PC by Central Point Software. What Copy II PC will do is make
an exact duplicate of what was on your 5.25 on your 3.5. In other words,
the result will be that you have a "360K" 3.5 disk instead of a 720K
or 1.4mb disk.

In fact, Copy II PC is capable of even copying protected software
from 5.25 disks to 3.5 disks. Thus, you can covert formats in a matter
of minutes.

Hope this helps you out...
