Netlanders, I have been trying for several weeks to do anonymous ftp file transfers from simtel20.arpa without success. Does anyone out there know what the status of the simtel20 site is? It seems that all I get is "connection reset by host" or "ftp server not responding" and on occasion the "too many anonymous users" messages. Inquiring minds want to know. I was able to do an anonymous ftp to wsmr-simtel20.army.mil this afternoon (about 3:00 pm PST). In general, the machine has been available, although I did get a connection refused about 1:00 opm this afternoon. Since wsmr-simtel20.army.mil has limited bandwidth out, they limit the number of simultaneous anonymous ftp users. In general, remember that simtel20.arpa has changed its name to wsmr-simtel20.army.mil quite a while ago, and try ftp'ing at odd hours. /mde/
