Recently I read about buying a memory board from South Coast Electronics on this system. I decided to buy a 2 MegByte memory board at $305, down from $345 previously announced. I got it to work after a few tries. What is interesting to me is that I had a cable problem, yet my CAD program still printed, but EXTREMELY slowly. Only when I tried to print from other software, did I get a printer not ready message. I used CHECKIT to find that I had a data line error and corrected it. My question is.... Why should my CAD program have worked at all. My printer showed no error on a self test because the printer was OK. I really panicked when I thought that the extra memory was slowing down my IIP. None of my other software worked correctly with the printer. Do some software programs search for faulty data lines, and compensate?
