I didn't believe IIT 2C87 can run 100% faster than 80287, until I bought one. It is faster. Why? It is claimed that it execute instructions is less clock cycles.100% faster? I think it's roughly correct. PC Mags Benchmark program says it's around 2.5 times faster than 80287, benchmark in PC-MATLAB (a program that does a lot of floating point calculations) says it's around 2 times faster. I think it's outstanding! Get one if you need a co-processor. BTW, it's only cost $30-$40 more than 80287, I highly recommend this chip. Frank disclaimer: of course I am NOT associated with IIT in any respect, except I bought one of their chip.
