What's the status of hypertext software on on the PC these days? I'm vaguely aware of a few other packages, but I've just developed one, and I'm wondering how many people might be interested in it. I haven't decided how much farther to take it, what sort of distribution to go for, and so on, but it IS up and running in a serious way with VERY efficient storage; even if your stack contains several thousand cards and 30,000 links among them it'll run about as fast as a stack with only 10 or so cards. This thing has a VERY hot engine and if there's real interest I may market it as shareware. For the unitiated, hypertext- as in, for example, the unrelated Hypercard by Apple Computer now included with the Macintosh- is a new concept in reading: the ability to jump to additional material by, for instance, clicking on a word that looks interesting on the current screen. VERY intuitive stuff. The package I'm coming up with doesn't have a language of its own like Hypercard, but does provide some seriously efficient capabilities for linking text among a large number of cards. If you're interested in beta- testing this package, or have any information on hypertext and PCs, please reply by email to boutell@freezer.it.udel.edu. Thanks! CRANBERRIES! ALBUQUERQUE!
