I have a little(?) problem here that maybe you folks out in Netland might be able to help me with. I'm running a 286-12 Compuadd machine with an ATI VGAWonder video card. Upon loading Telix v3.11, my sytem crashes, leaving the BIOS version information on the screen. The machine has an Award BIOS if that helps. Underneath the BIOS display during bootup, the four-digit number 3588 appears. Does this mean anything to anybody? Does anyone else have this problem with ATI's VGAWonder and Telix? Any help would earn you my undying gratitude... Thanks in advance... -John -- ****************************************************************************** * Internet: keating@rex.cs.tulane.edu * /== Tulane * * * Usenet: ...!pyramid!rex!keating * ==== Green * John * * Bitnet: cs6hecu@tcsvm * ====== Wave!! * Keating * * CIS: Hmmm... cantremember... * =========== * * *****************************************************************************

I have run Telix in all it's permutations on an AST Xformer (10Mhz AT replacement planar) with the ATI VGA Wonder/NEC 3D combination. Never has there been a problem with the video routines (I won't discuss the modem setup, that is between me and Avatex :) ). For the record, the ATI card was setup as follows... In EEPROM on the VGA board: VGA mode NEC 3D monitor default 16-bit ROM operation This worked whether I had the ROM shadowed in RAM with the ATI driver or not. Your mileage may vary, but I suggest if you have it to disable SHADOW RAM operation of the video ROM and use the ATI alone. If that behaves then try loading the ATI.SYS driver and see how that works. If all else fails, change the slot you have the ATI card in (from 16 to an 8-bit), run the VCONFIG program and set 8-bit operation and see what you get. My VGA Wonder has been shipped back to the factory for modification (RF emission sensitivity, older board), so I can't tell you off-hand what any of these settings do with my system. The ATI Graphics Solution CGA+ card is doing the job with no modifications to Telix in the interim though...
