[comp.sys.ibm.pc] First Publisher and HP LaserJet II fonts

djo7613@blake.acs.washington.edu (Dick O'Connor) (02/27/90)

My questions about First Publisher's support of HP LaserJet II fonts was
answered by several people. I've excerpted two of Eugene Vogt's comments
that sum it up. Bottom Line? Wait till April...(!?) :)

I believe the availability of more fonts in the LaserWriter is due to
the PostScript driver that you pay big $$$$ for when you buy one of
those printers. Software Publishing has recently come out with an
add-on ($52 at EggHead) for 1stPub that adds a bunch of fonts in a lot
of sizes, and has enhanced drivers for a bunch of printers, including
the LaserJet series. It's called Publisher's TypeFace, I think. I
have been meaning to get a copy, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
I use a 24-pin epson with my 1stPub.

Hold Everything! Stop the presses!

I read in InfoWorld last Friday that SPC will be coming out with
1stPublisher version 3.0 sometime in April, and from the description,
it sounds like the add-in has been added in. Upgrade will be $45 for
registered users.
