[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Need a DATA ACQUISITION board

suew@hpnmdla.HP.COM (Sue Wood) (02/17/90)

I want to do a thermal profile of the different rooms in my house.
Anyone have any recommendations on a DATA ACQUISITION board for
an ibm compatible? Or a good source for this hardware?

Try the A-Bus system. Advertisements are always in BYTE magazine.

I've used the PC gameport to measure temperature in up to four rooms. It is
an inexpensive alternative. For more info on doing this, see my shareware
disk "The Home Control Primer." It has programs and info on home automation
and environmental monitoring. If you have the X-10 interface (for turning
on/off lights and appliances) there are a couple of neat programs that work
with the X-10.

The Home Control Primer is distributed by user groups and by shareware
distributors. Here's a couple places you might check:

Velvet Software MicroTechnology Winner's Edge Software
P.O. Box 94 21 Vintage Drive P.O. Box 233
Fabyan, CT 06245 East Windsor, NJ 08520 Roy, UT 84067
203/923-3311 609/426-0506 801/825-4229

The disk may be obtained from the above sources for a small fee (or for
free from other sources) but the programs are shareware. Try before
you buy!

Good Luck!

Thanks much to all of you who replied via E-mail. I've collected
many phone numbers and names of suppliers. Now to the phone
calls . . . .

Thanks again,

suew
