Oh, yes, I'm sure there's an easier way. In fact, it's almost
tempting to challenge someone to do it in a more convoluted way...
However, the following works, using generally available tools on
and IBM PC:
1. Start with a PostScript file. In my case it was hand
programmed.
2. Use Ultrascript/PC to print it out as a PCX file.
3. Use BIT2GRAY to convert the very large PCX to an antialiased
smaller (like screen-sized) PCX file.
4. Use VPIC to convert the PCX to a GIF file.
And amazingly, after all that, you can still read down to 8
point (maybe less). The arcs were relatively smooth as well.
