I'd just like to thank everyone who has replied to my question about how Windows/286-386 uses memory. There were too many responses to reply to individually. A majority of the people said to go with Desqview to multitask DOS, so that's what I did. However, now I'm having a problem using it with communications software. When I use Procomm 2.4.3, and double click to go into DV, the communications freezes. At first I thought it happened only when transferring files, however, even when I'm just viewing text, it freezes. I've tried setting it up w/ Communications interrupts at priority, and without, and no, I did NOT allow it to swap out. I've kept it in a virtual window, as it writes to the screen. This same problem occurs w/ PCKermit. Also, does anybody know of an ATI VGAWONDER(512K) driver for Desqview? I'd love to be able to run it in 800*600*16. The way things are now, if I try to run fractint in the background, when I come back to the screen, it is royally messed up... Thanks much... I think the only thing to do is bitch at QD about their lack of support for SuperVGA. They'll moan that it's a lot of work. I thought that was what we paid them money for. -- Phil Ngai, phil@amd.com {uunet, decwrl, ucbvax}!amdcad!phil A PC without DESQview is like Unix without ^Z.
