A friend of mine has an old Mitsubishi 386. Either because of a problem or simply by being an older computer, it does not support a 3.5 drive. He thought this was a good opportunity to upgrade the hard disk controller from a 3/1 to 1/1 interleave and get a card that will also support the floppies (e.g. a DTC 7280). The problem is that the floppy controller is on the mother board and the DTC (and I assume other such cards) floppy part will not work while the other is active. Is there a way to disable the embedded floppy controller? Jumper on the mother board? A chip that can be removed? Cut the whole thing away? Thanks, -- Ron --
