Thanks for all the responses to my posting last weekend about my Everex Evercom 24 2400 bps modem. In answer to your questions, I successfully use the beastie with ctrm and Crosstalk-XVI, so I know it works with them. Everex ships bitcom with it, so it is likely to work with it (I've never tried it myself - since I already had ctrm, which is public domain, and does what I need in a communications package, I have had no need to) I would also suspect that it would work with Smartcom, since the modem is Hayes compatible. I've had NO problems with it in the past 18 months. It works well at both 2400 and 1200 bps and seems to be an excellent value for the price (about $99). I'm considering replacing it, but only since a number of systems I access regularly now have 9600 bps ports and 9600 bps modems are starting to become reasonably priced. Would I consider another Everex? Yes. Regards, Bill Mitchell Disclaimer: These are strictly my personal opinions and are not necessarily those of my employer or any other person.
