My friend's computer has this '1701' BIOS error when it boots up. I looked at a DOS book and it says 'Hard Drive Post Error' Could anyone tell me what's wrong? Is the HD dead? How to fix the problem? Thanks plenty. -Jimmy.

There is one long shot your friend can try. Open the case, pull and reseat all the cables connected to the hard disk. It's amazing how many times that actually fixes a problem.
