I just saw Superman II, (well, part of it) on the boob box the other day and have since been wondering how it is that Lois Lane seemed to return to a state of untroubled newslady serenity after kissing S near the movie's end. Are all movie kisses with superheros this magical, or, as I suspect, did Superman perform brain surgery on L.L. with his tongue? always ready with the hard questions, steve

A popular notion about Superman was proposed several years ago in a comix-fan book called "Omniverse" (I think that was the title) which suggested that the Kryptonians are all high-order psionic talents, and that poor Kal-El grew up away from that society and therefore never really developed his talents properly. The movies seem to take this underlying notion, however, since in Supes1 Lois was flown about by Kal El, simply by touch-telekinesis. The odd things they did in the second filem made me think that this was indeed the case. The suiggestion is that when Superman kissed Lois, he took away her memories of their whole experience. I consider this morally reprehensible and out of character, but then Supermann has traditionally had very very neurotic relationships with women. I suggest "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex" to anyone who wants to get a better idea of some of the problems in Superman's love life. Hutch ,
