[comp.sys.ibm.pc] disk for ATT 6300

jzavgren@bbn.com (John Zavgren) (03/05/90)

My 20 meg hard disk is 95% full, another 20 meg ought to last for as
long as I own it. Any recommendations for a good price/performance
tradeoff?

The Plus Hardcard has a good track record in AT&T 6300's. Why
not dump the current 20 Mb and get a Plus 40 Mb? Don't forget
to reset your dip switches on the motherboard and make sure
you have V.1.43 bios.

I ran in to the same problem (my 20mb drive was filling up; it's now
consistently 94% full).

I went for the Western Digital FileCard 30. No problems at all, and I've had
it for about 1 year at this point.

I went for the 30mb and not the 20mb for a couple of reasons:

1. I knew I could fill 20mb fast. :-)

2. DOS (< 4.xx I guess) will handle partitions up to 32mb. So, anything bigger
(like a 40mb or 60mb Plus hardcard for example) would have to be partitioned,
and I didn't want to do that.

3. The Western Digital FileCard 30 was *less* expensive than the Plus HardCard
20 (at the time) -- more bang for the buck, so to speak.
