[comp.sys.ibm.pc] PC Owner Equipment Survey

granoff@vaxwrk.enet.dec.com (Mark H. Granoff) (03/17/90)

Well, its getting near time to get with the program and jump on the '386
bandwagon (or at least get up to speed with technology). My AT&T 6300 is
pretty much expanded to the point where spending more money on it (e.g. for
more memory or a color monitor) would be better spent on a new, more up to
date, system.

But fear not! I won't (and wouldn't dare) ask "What should I buy?"

Instead, I'd like to find out what you bought, *why* you bought it, and
what you particularly like or dislike about your system. Also, to control
the "signal-to-noise" ratio of this newsgroup, please respond directly to
me, and I will summarize the "poll" (if you want to call it that) when the
responses have (seemingly) stopped coming in.

Please answer the following. If the components were purchased later or
individually, please include price you paid, and if it was mail order or
not.

1. What brand and model did you buy?

2. Why did you buy what you did?

3. What features (or individual components) were most important to you?

4. Are you satisfied with the machine and its performance?

5. How long have you owned the machine?

6. How soon will you either
	a) upgrade a portion of the system (e.g. more memory)
   or
	b) buy a completely new system?

7. What operating system and version do you run?

8. Do you run MicroSoft Windows?

9. What do you use it for (in general), e.g. programming, database, word
   processing, spreadsheet, financial, other.

Thank you very much, in advance, for the information. Of course, I am
researching other sources of information, too, such as recent magazine
articles. Again, please respond directly to me, not the net.
