[I've been out of the IBM PC world for a few years, so please bear with me if the following questions are a bit out of touch.] I am trying to resurrect an old PC-1 for use by an 8 year old girl. The main problem is that I have a standard monochrome monitor, a working PCjr (don't laugh) color monitor, but only a CGA video adapter. I want to be able to run some games and educational software (the machine does have a pair of floppy drives and a hard disk), so I think that graphics (at least CGA) are essential. The problem is that the PCjr monitor has a funky 37-pin connector that doesn't fit in the CGA adapter. What are my best options? Should I just buy a monochrome graphics adapter? Or is there some way I can make an adapter so that the PCjr monitor can plug into the CGA card? I don't want to spend too much money on an obsolete machine. Any advice you can send will be greatly appreciated by a bright little girl with a budding interest in computing... There is a supplier in New Jersey that makes a converter cable for the PCjr monitor and a standard CGA board. I think the cable runs about $50. PC Enterprises is the company I think the number is (800) 922-PCJR. Check some of the other postings about PCjr's, I know that I have posted the address before...
