I recently tried to compress my hard disk using PCTOOLS' PCCOMPRESS and got a warning that there were cross-chained files and that I should run CHKDSK /F to fix them. So I ran CHKDSK and, sure enough, it found and fixed two cross-chained files. However, when I ran PCCOMPRESS again it told me there were still eight cross-chained files still out there. Re- running CHKDSK didn't find them. It thought everything was fixed. I'm reluctant to run PCCOMPRESS without being sure that everything is okay. Can anyone tell me why CHKDSK can't find cross-chains that PCCOMPRESS can? What can I do to fix them? Thanks -- John Boggs McDonnell Douglas Electronic Systems Company McLean, Virginia, USA
