When my 386si came back from SOTA last week, they enclosed a note to contact an outfit (Person? Company? ???) called "BOFFIN" at the number (800) 255-4012 to get a 16i memory board. I haven't called 'cuz I don't have the money. Bob M. - Penn State-Harrisburg. PS: My 386sx has been working like a champ for the last 4-5 days. So far so good.......

Just a quick comment about Sota's 16i memory board for their 386sx accelerator. It is important to separate the marketing hype from the technical reality. There is a REASON why reputable firms like PC Connection refuse to carry it. I doesn't work as advertised! If you want to hear some tales of woe log on to their technical support BBS sometime. It was obviously rushed to market while still in beta because of the narrowing window of marketing oportunity (have you seen the prices on complete 386sx based systems lately?). Whether they will ever get it working properly I don't know but this talk of OS/2 on their accelerator board is nonsense at this time. Theoretically, yes, it should work and I am sure they will be happy to sell you their theories. |-) This comment is not meant to disparage the 386sx board which is a superb product and I am even planning to get one but it is severely handicapped by the lack of on board memory. At least Sota seems like they really are trying to do things right and they have a good attitude toward support. -- Jimmy Liberato ...!amdahl!drivax!liberato
