Can some point me to a review of the Compaticard IV, or provide their own review? I am looking for a new floppy controller capable of handling four drives. The Compaticard looks like it has a few extra bells and whistles (like boot from any drive), but it also mentions being a Quad speed controller for faster data transfer. I thought all floppy controllers pretty much had the same throughput (slow :-)). Since its roughly four times the cost of a generic four drive-four type controller, I would like to know if its really worth it. Thanks for any info. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- William Curtiss 407/984-6383 | - Standard disclamers apply - Harris GISD, Melbourne, FL 32902 | Internet: wcurtiss%x102c@ess.harris.com | <-- New address

Not exactly an answer to the Compaticard IV four floppy controller question, but an additional question. Do the floppy controllers on AT-type HD/FD controllers utilize all 16 bits of the bus, or only 8-bits? Second, do the separate four-floppy controllers, when used in AT's, use only 8-bit bus width? If so, is the additional speed of AT floppy controllers merely due to the increased clock rate. M Volow, VA Medical Center, Durham, NC 27705 mvolo@ecsvax.edu 919 286 0411
