This "movie" is a documentary on porn. It (for the most part) shows that women are demeaned in pornographic movies. To make various points, explicit sex is shown, including an short excerpt of a former stripper who goes under cover (no pun intended) in a photo session. The documentary was done by feminists, and it shows. However, they do give other people, those who claim porn is "good", a chance to speak. Ignoring the topic covered, the movie is a poor documentary. Most of the discussions are poorly edited. I saw it on campus for $1.50 (it was sponsored by the campus Women's Caucus). It's not worth any more than that. Avadis Tevanian, Jr. rochester!avie avie@rochester

I saw this movie on porn also. If any of you are turned off by porn don't see this movie. In order to document what really goes on in the porn buisness this movie really gets into the nitty gritties, but good. If you love porn then this movie has it!!!!! My feelings about this movie was (as rocheste!avie said) it was very feminist. I think that they missed the whole point entirely in the movie. According to the producers of this movie, pornography exploits women. This is WRONG!!!!!!!! Porn exploits MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who is it that pays the bucks for Playboy, Penthouse, etc??? MEN! Who is it that goes to these "dirty" movies and hands out the bucks??? MEN! Who is it that pays hookers, pays for strip shows, hands out the bucks for anything erotic???? MEN! (Will you three women in the front row please sit down, we know that you buy those books too) Seriously, if men did not pay the dough for all this stuff there would not be porn around, it would not be profitable so the real poor sod being exploited in the porn racket is the man and not the women. If you get a chance to see this movie "Not a Love Story" just look at the girl in the glass box wriggling her naked body up and down the glass trying to get the guy to put another quarter in the slot for another 1 minute of cheap thrills and then you tell me who's getting exploited. What I could never understand is why people want porn made illegal. I find many things offensive, including raunchy pornography, but I don't want to throw people in jail for them... Tim Maroney

The problem with raunchy porn is that men who view it lose touch with real human emotion and connection, cannot deal with women except as virgins or whores, and as they get used to one form of porn, they need more violent forms for stimulation. Modern issues of Penthouse and Oui, for instance, repectively show naked women whose limbs are completely contorted, and naked women hugging machineguns. These images filter down through other forms of media and serve to reinforce cultural norms of violence against women: The movie ends focussed on the paired Calvin Klein fashion-jean billboard, and one can't help but notice the woman posed to take it in the rear. Anyhow, there are a lot of things which are illegal in various parts of our nation, including incest, rape, sodomy, homosexuality, oral sex, etc., but the depiction of these acts on screen or in magazines is not.
