[comp.sys.ibm.pc] '386 Replacement Motherboards for an IBM PC-XT.

I'm looking for information regarding 80386 replacement
mother boards for an IBM PC-XT. I'm pleased with the current
configuration of my PC-XT, but I would like to upgrade to an
ISA/EISA bus with an 80386 microprocessor w/o buying a new
system. I'm interested in a brief description of the motherboards,
and who makes them.

I would like the mother board to:

- Fit in an IBM PC-XT (i.e. slot spacing same as old IBM PC-XT slots)
- Use my existing add-in boards (i.e. no speed restrictions)
- Have the ability for > 4 MB RAM on mother/expansion board
- Based on an 80386SX or 80386/16/20/25Mhz microprocessor
- Priced at $1000.00 or less

I would really appreciate any recommendations on 80386
replacement motherboards that you've encountered.

I have had personal good luck with a Jameco 386 20 Mhz board. It is currently
priced at $630 with no memory. All of my old 8 Mhz XT clone cards(2400 baud
internal Omnitel modem, cheapo serial parallel board, ATI EGA Wonder work fine).
I bought a WD 10006VSR2 (1:1 interleave FD/HD controller) though, since an
XT HD controller will make the disk I/O dog slow.
