Hi there. I have a quick question about a new hard drive that just arrived in the market. It's called The Octagon Family of hard drives by Kalok. Has anyone delt with these yet? How good are they? I have three of them in operation. They were designed by the engineers
that brought out the ST-225 and ST-238. They thought they could improve
on the original design. The drives seem to be a good value for the
price. The KALOC 330, a 3.5" ST-238 equivalent, has a plated media
platter and better seek time than the Seagate drive. The head
positioning mechanism is much simpler.
I haven't had the drives long enough for a really good evaluation,
but my dealer (Media Winchester Ltd.) backs up the products they
sell, so I'm not worried.

Here's a question I'm sure more people will be asking. I've got an IBM PS/2 mod50 (orginal, not 50Z) with it's 20MB hard drive. I've been told the hard drive controller is limited to 20M and the only option is to by IBM's 60MB drive and controller for $1700. Now I got the computer thru school for not much more than that! Is there any thing on the market that will allow me to use AT style hard drives ( I have a 20MB and 60MB drives for an AT) as external drives to the PS/2 with it's microchannel? email or post replies thanks mike davis

One More time. I am having a hell of a time with this editor. So if it llooks likookse I l on't know what I'm doing it's because I don't. If you can give any helpfull hints if any thing looks amiss please do. On to business. I was browsing through some old PC magazines a while back and noticed an article about installing your own hard drive. Now as impossible as it may seem I still live in the dark ages and use two floppies, but I can see now that it's time to move on to bigger and better things. So I'm going to purchase an HD and try and install it myself. From what PC said it was fairly easy and that most of the drives came with step by step instructions. I don't have acses. to the article any more and I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions on brand names, companies to purchase from (Also mail speer), and cost which at this point is the main factor. I don`t want to end more than $350-400. Any Info.,sugesstions, or hints would be a great help.
