Looking for good PD menu system similar to DOSSHELL. Is there
anything comparable?

Try: WordPerfect Library 2.0 / Office 3.0;
     Make your own via Norton Commander;
     Make your own (e.g., specify entries) with PC Tools Deluxe.

  I'm looking at a thing called 3dmenu for c.b.i.p. Looks promising.

There is a 3D menu program on the SIMTEL20 server. This might be what you
are looking for.

I've used this a bit. It is quite nice but creates a separate batch
file for every option on every menu - not very efficient in terms of
disk usage when every file, no matter how small, may have a minimum
allocation of 1024 bytes (or even more).

I eventually came down in favour of a shareware product called
Automenu (v4.5) from Magee Enterprises. It's easy to maintain and
modify and does everything that I want in a menuing system
(including network support). It is also extremely well documented -
the author can even spell :-)

(In case it needs saying, I have no connection with Magee
Enterprises.)
