I have a 386-25 with an ATI Wonder ( 512K ) graphics card & a Seiko 1440 monitor. I am unable to view any 800 x 600 (256 colors) GIF files correctly. I mean, the monitor seems to display only 16 colors but I'm not sure about what resolution is displayed. Are there any other public domain programs for viewing .GIF files that support hi-res (VGA ?) modes ??

Check the local boards for the program VPIC, which will run the ATI card to the 800x600 modes in both VGA and EGA. I suggest if you can find it, get the release 2.1A, as it has been the only one I can really recommend. There is a persistent bug with the later releases that shifts the EGA palette information (has been brought to B. Montgomery's attention, to no avail, alas) on the ATI VGA Wonder. I can try to send a uuencoded version of the program with the ATI information if you cannot find it anywhere else. -- Tim Bowser ("Strikemaster") | Standard | mailrus!sharkey!clmqt!strike Enterprise Information System | Disclaimer | strike@clmqt.marquette.Mi.US Marquette, Mi.
