About 2 weeks about I was walking around the Clark and Rush street area of Chicago when suddenly the area was flooded with what looked like human-sized, hair-covered Shmoos (you know, Shmoos, from the L'il Abner comic strip). They bounced around, posing with random passers-by, while others snapped their pictures. It turned out they were promoting the Space Hunter movie. I don't know what relation they have with the film, but since I have rarely seen this kind of thing before it would seem that the Studio or Distributor of the movie is going to great lengths to promote it.
