[comp.sys.ibm.pc] compatible binary file encoding for macs & PCs

I'm looking for compatible file encoding tools (possibly along with 
compression) for Macintoshes & PCs. (I need to transmit ASCII files not 
binaries). 

I have stuffit for Macintoshes which can binhex files. Is there an equivalent
binhex for PCs ?? How about Mac equivalents for 'zoo' encoded files from the 
PC side? Any others ??
