Please excuse the cross posting. I'm not real sure of the appropriate group. As part of a project I may be working on I have need to use a PC to talk to an IBM main frame. I have to access an IDMS data base under CICS (or so I have been told). I need something more than a terminal emulator because I don't want to be dependent upon screen formats and the access is part of another application. Access must be via dial-up telephone lines. I know almost nothing about the IBM mainframe world. Is what I am attempting to do possible? Is it hard? Are there packages that already solve this problem (preferably subroutine libraries)? I've tried asking these questions of our local data center. They have been less than helpful. Please respond directly to me as I do not normally read some of these groups.
