Well, after a few years of faithfull service, my model 30 is on it's last
leg (thank god). For the past several days, I've been getting a motherboard
error #102 during power up. If I slap it on the front, then power it up,
it'll work. I believe that I've somehow fried the onboard disk controller
'cause it can't read/write 3-1/2" disks anymore. I can still use my 5-1/4"
external drive with no problem though.
I called the local IBM repair shop as to exactly what this error means and
all they would tell me that it's a motherboard error (no sh*t Sherlock!)
and because there are no replacable parts on the board, I would need to
put out $500 to replace it. I told them that I won't be suckered twice!
Anyway, if anyone has some information pertaining to this problem, I'd
appriciate it.
Thanks,
