A while ago some people posted asking about cheap 24 bit frame buffers for an AT bus. Well, Hercules is about to release (April) a VGA compatible 24 bit frame buffer for $1024. This card also includes a TI 34010 graphics processor which is supposed to make it 5 to 6 times faster than other VGA cards. It supports these modes: Resolution # of Colors ---------- ----------- 320x200 4, 16, 256 640x350 2, 16 640x480 2, 16, 256, 32768 512x480 16.7 million 800x600 256 1024x768 256 -interlaced 1024x768 256 -non-interlaced Compare this to other 24 bit cards that don't even have any VGA modes, like the Truevision TARGA 24 at $3995, and this card seems like an unbelievably good deal at *** $1024 ***. Has anyone actually seen this card yet? ------------ Andrew Wason Bellcore aw@cellar.bae.bellcore.com bellcore!cellar!aw

Has anyone out there tried the new Hercules Graphics Station card? If it performs as advertised it seems everyone else has just been blown out of the water. 24 bit color, no less... tom Thomas P.
