[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Questions about installing Maxtor XT1140

johncore@compnect.UUCP (John Core ) (04/10/90)

About a year ago I called Maxtor with the same questions. Here are the
answers.

The Maxtor 1140xt is closest on an at bus to a type 9 drive.
It has 15 heads and 918 cylinders. 17 secs

It is an MFM drive and the manufacturer does NOT recommend it be used on
RLL. But I have been running one under rll for about 2 years now.

Maxtor tech support phone no is 1-408-432-1700.

I have also heard of formating these drives to 1200+ cylinders. Depends how
often you back up I guess.
