[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Microsoft ME editor

kipnis@janus.Berkeley.EDU (Gary Kipnis) (04/10/90)

Hi, does anyone know how to force me editor to read tools.ini file. In the
documentation it say that a variable init should be set the directory
were tools.ini is, but the editor never reads the file in that directory.
i.e. SET INIT=C:\EDITORS\INIT

Thank you,

gary

Hello!

Pretty sure that the TOOLS.INI is already being read - but not acted upon.
Check that you have a section header (of the format [xxx] ) where the
xxx's inside the square brackets are the filename (without the extension)
of the executable being run as Microsoft Editor.

Let me clarify a bit: I'm running the ME in two environments. I've renamed
the DOS-mode version to M.EXE and the OS/2-mode version to MEP.EXE . Now,
both versions use the same TOOLS.INI , but by tagging the sections like
this...

   [MEP]
   ; OS/2 -mode macros, etc.
   [M]
   ; DOS-mode macros, etc.

So, you (running the editor as ME.EXE) should make sure the TOOLS.INI
section header reads [ME] .

Hope this helps,
