[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Dual purpose post: 40-line screen saver/^info on .SYS writing

silk@dhw68k.cts.com (Mitch Gorman) (04/12/90)

At work, I've got a lovely Multi-sync XL to work on. Since I've got
all that screen, I can't seen wasting it by using only 25 lines, so I've got
Norton's Control Center pushing me to 40 (ncc/40 in batch files everywhere!).

The problem is, BURNDEV.SYS in my config.sys only blanks out 25 lines.
I really like this particular ss 'cuz it lets me force the screen blank with
a Ctrl-left shift key combo (and that is changeable). Is there a later ver-
sion of this program out there, or is there another that'll do the same things?

I have given thought to the idea of writing my own, but I have no
idea as to how one goes about creating a .SYS file that can be placed in the
config.sys file. If it's "easy", could someone email me the info? If not,
could someone please point me to some books that describe how to do it? I
am sure that some of the TechRefs have this info, but I ain't got no $90 or
$100 bucks to blow on one o' dem!

	Thanks much.
