A friend just recently purchased a Gateway 386SX machine equipped with a Microsciences 65Meg rll drive driven by a DTC controller. When he went to configure the system CMOS, he couldn't find an exact match for the drive. So he called Gateway, and the tech he talked to told him which drive type to use in the set-up (type 33, in case it matters). The drive works just fine for all the DOS stuff he does, like reads and writes and directory listings and all that. But when he tries to use either Norton or PCTools, he gets errors of the type that indicate these programs can't find the FAT. Is there enough in this description for someone to point us in the right direction or suggest what the problem might be? Thanks, Alan Holbrook holbrook@apollo.hp.com No .sig, I just post on impulse.
