Reply by e-mail to: uunet!motcid!molesb Have any of you out there had good or bad experiences with Zeos or Northgate 386 machines? I amin the market for one and I looked at PC Brand but recent comments on the dissuaded me from further considering them. Any comments are appreciated. -Jeff

I have a Northgate Elegence 386 25 Mhz machine with 150 Mb hard disk and 4 Meg of memory. I have been very satisfied with the machine and the service. They have an 800 number you can call if you have system problems, and the service people have all been helpful when I needed questions answered. I definitely recommend Northgate systems as a good option. Jeff S.

I am satisfied with the machine's construction and performance. Its lightning (but then what wouldn't after an 8 mHz XT clone)! I had one problem with the whole process of ordering, etc.: I received the machine with the hard drive not bolted in! I reconnected the controller cable and bolted it in myself and everything works fine. I have complained to them in writing about it. The positive parts of the experience: The price quoted in magazine ads also included the Omnikey keyboard (as opposed to the 102 key keyboard), an internal 2400 baud modem with software, a mouse, and Windows 386 (still waiting for Microsoft to ship this one). They quoted me a shipping date 4 weeks from my ordering date and then shipped it two weeks from the day I ordered! The salesperson I spoke with answered all my questions knowledgeably. I can't say that about all the manufacturers I spoke with when deciding on this machine. |> I definitely recommend Northgate systems as a good option. Me too. |> Jeff S.
