[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Printer Drivers for Word Perfect 5.1.

lance@helios.ucsc.edu (Lance Bresee) (04/14/90)

I was trying to install WP5.1 on My sister's computer.
I gave her a C-Itoh 1550B wide carriage printer.
Sprint understands this printer as an Apple Imagewriter Model I.
I tried this driver with WP, as well as ALL the supplied
C-Itoh drivers. The Apple driver works for text and correctly
sets the printer into bold and underline modes,
but does not translate any of the collunm and square
graphics characters correctly.
Does anyone out there know of a WP driver for the
1550B, or of a utility that allows you to create your
own driver or translate table?

thanx muchly

If you have a modem, you can call WordPerfect's BBS at (801) 225-4414.
There they have printer drivers for all the ones that they support.
The printer drivers are all compressed using PKZIP and are generally
no larger than 20K so long distance calls won't take forever.

If you want to create your own driver, there is the PTR program supplied
with the program. As you may have noticed, they didn't send you a manual
on how to use it, however. If you would like the manual, you'll have to
call WordPerfect and order it for a nominal fee ($10, I think)

With the BBS and the PTR manual, you will have to give them your
registration number when you call -).
