A user of Word 5 on campus has come across a strange 'problem' that I have not been able to replicate, but happens on his machine every time he uses Microsoft Word 5. It seems that every time he uses Word 5 it slows down after about twenty or so minutes of use. By slows down, I mean really slows down, in that it may take an appreciable time for a character to appear after it is typed (about 2 seconds). The problem appears to be independent of the length of the document, and is not reproducible on my PC, an identically configured locally made AT compatible. Saving the file in RTF format fixes the problem for a short time but the computer inevitably slows down once more. Has anyone else come across this problem? I'm not sure that it is a bug because it is not reproducible on my PC, but I have checked this users' PC for viruses, TSR's and other things that I thought would steal processing time from Word 5. Please email any suggestions to the address beneath. Thanks.
