I need to be able to administer a PC running as a file server in a remote office. The ideal thing would be to attach a modem to the server PC and dial into it from my office. Obviously, I need to redirect all the keyboard/screen stuff to COM1:. A quick perusal of my DOS manual shows a CTTY command that looks like it would do the trick. I haven't tried this yet. My Questions: - does ctty work? - what are the limitations of redirecting using ctty? - is there a better way to get a remote console for a pc? - what about remote pc consoles in general, ie. using graphics programs? - what other things should I be worried about? The file server is running Microsoft PC-LAN server s/w as a dedicated file server. Many Thanks Tom McClory tmcclory@thor.wright.edu
